Meet the DRL Drafting, Design & Engineering professionals that make up our top-tier team.
Don began working in the construction industry early as a teenager working for his father’s construction company. Upon earning his degree from CVTC he accepted a position for a local prestressed/precast concrete fabricator. After several years as a salesman and project manager he left to presume his dream of opening DRLDD. Under Don’s guidance DRLDD has evolved from a one-man organization to a fully staffed drafting and engineering company including support staff, technicians and professionals.
Don is very committed to supporting the community he has lived in his entire life. He has coached youth sports teams since graduating from McDonell Central Catholic High School in the early 1990’s. He spent 7 years as the Head Hockey Coach for McDonell and is now volunteering his time as the Head Hockey Coach for the UWEC Men’s Club Hockey team. In addition to coaching Don served the Chippewa Youth Hockey Association on a number of committees, as a board member and Vice President.
I joined DRLDD in October of 2016 as a Structural Engineer. My main responsibilities include: Performing design calculations for Commercial, Governmental, Educational and Industrial Buildings. I also interface with Clients, Architects and Draftsmen to prepare construction documents for Precast, Steel, Masonry and Wood framed buildings, and I’m responsible for reviewing construction progress and reviewing construction shop drawings. I’ve held similar Structural Engineering positions at BKV Group in Minneapolis, MN (2013-2016), Ayres Associates in Eau Claire, WI (1998- 2013) and TSP/EOS in Rochester, MN (1996-1998). I hold Professional Engineer Licenses (PE) in the states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, New York and South Carolina.
I started with DRLDD as an intern in the summer of 2017. I worked part time while I finished school and when it came time to graduate, I was given a full-time position. In the time that I have been working here I have broadened my knowledge on not only precast but drafting and project management as well.
Outside of work I keep myself busy with family and friends. I have 3 younger brothers that are involved in many sports and other extra curriculars, so there is always somewhere to be. If I am not on the sidelines cheering them on you can find me nestled in with a good book. I also am involved in The Miracle League of the Chippewa Valley where I assist kids with special needs playing baseball.
I joined DRLDD in January of 2015 as a Precast Designer and AutoCAD Technician. I am responsible for creating precast erection drawings and shop tickets. As well as an in-house checker. I have work on a variety of projects. Bridge girders in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Pennsylvania. Building projects for large manufacturer buildings, school gymnasiums and parking garage. I have worked on various types precast elements. Bridge girders, solid wall panels, insulated wall panels, hollow core plank, IT-beams, R-beams, L-beams, spandrels, double tees, and columns. Before starting at DRLDD, I have over 18 years of experience in designing and drafting in both the structural and architectural fields. Working on retail, healthcare, residential and other commercial buildings. That used a variety of building materials.
I am very active in my local community. I have coached several youth sports teams (Basketball, Baseball and Football). I have been the Boy scout leader in my local town for the last 10 years. Lead many events, fundraisers and campouts over the years. With being a 8 day camping trip to Yellowstone National Park with 35 scouts and parents.
I started with DRLDD as an intern in the summer of 2013. Since then, I have gained experience working with a wide range of precast concrete structures including schools, warehouses, parking garages, and bridges. As a project manager, my main duties include creating erection plans, detailing pieces, and leading projects from start to finish.
My greatest passion outside of DRLDD is fitness and nutrition. I have been a certified personal trainer with the National Academy of Sports Medicine since 2015. I also, recently, became certified as a Personal Nutrition Coach with NASM. In my spare time, I enjoy reading studies and studying recent trends to find ways to constantly improve. I have also been an avid sports fan my entire life. I enjoy watching Wisconsin sports, and I am thankful for the rich history and tradition in our state. My favorite teams are the Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, and Wisconsin football and basketball. There’s never an off-season here! I also love spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, and enjoying the beautiful scenery that Wisconsin has to offer!
Lucy is an integral part of our staff, always there to offer a bark of encouragement and an ear to listen. You can find her in the office during the winter months hanging out with Don and the rest of the team. Be sure to give her a pet or belly rub when you stop in!
